A Letter to Myself

One day, you’ll come across something so beautiful,
your lungs will forget it needs oxygen for you because
they want to gift it to this life.

One day, you’ll hold the hand of a love
while looking into the eyes of a fragile
being, and you will finally understand
the importance of being strong for those
who are delicate.

One day, you’ll live a life to be proud of,
not one you want to throw away like
last weeks leftovers.

One day, you’ll smile because you’ll have
purpose, all you have to do is allow the
time to get there.

Let Us Thrive

Let us run south with the wind,
gone as the dust, little swirls of
regrets follow our trail of memories.

Let us find a road to where
happiness rests, hiding behind
the corner of the rainbow.

Let us wear the scars of battle
with pride, the long fight it took
to make it where we land.

Let us hold the strength in our
fingertips, and pain in our hearts,
so we can throw it in the flames
of past when our future begins.

Let us finish everything we
began and show them a fire
shines brighter when poked
with gasoline.

Dear Future Me

Dear future me,
Did you keep on the path I set for you,
or were the flowers off the road too enticing?
Did you become trapped in their grasp of deceit
when trying to compliment their beauty?
Did you make it over that wall of perception?

Dear future me,
Are you finally ready to claim the personality that belongs to you,
To display the body you worked for,
To show off the empire you built with the aftermath of the explosions?

Dear future me,
Have you finally broken free from the deafening claws of insecurities telling you that you will never be enough?
Have you decided you like what you’ve become?
Because dear future me,
I’m trying to get you there.
