I would sooner go deaf
than never again listen
to the river flowing from your lips,
so smooth
that it appears almost still.

“I would sooner go deaf
than never again listen”
In both situations, listening is no longer an option. So you’re basically saying:
“I would sooner never listen,
than never again listen.”
Of course, there are a variety of meanings this could possess, my favorite one being:
“I never want to stop listening.”

I never want to stop listening is the meaning I was going for 🙂

Beautiful image + beautiful meaning + beautiful descriptions = beautiful poem
The simplicity is amazing; I don’t know how you do that. Literally you can take 5 lines and make them flow so smoothly and beautifully. You tell a story in this tiny piece and it’s just astounding to me. Lovely poem; I really love how idyllic yet somber it feels.
Overall just another amazing piece ❤
